On 30 August 2025, the Siem Reaper team gathered for a special cycling event—more than just a ride, it was a day of unity, reflection, and growth. The gathering united guides, young riders, and passionate staff to strengthen bonds and share the wisdom gained from the road. The day began early as everyone set off on their bicycles toward the hidden gems of Angkor Park. Cycling through jungle paths led the group to Prasat Chrung Temple, Ta Nei Temple, and other quiet trails far from the crowds. As we rode, we shared smiles with other cyclists, feeling a sense of connection and the genuine friendliness of locals—a small reminder that travelling together builds community. From there, the team continued on scenic countryside paths before returning in the afternoon. The ride was both challenging and rewarding, testing endurance while filling the day with laughter, stories, and shared purpose. To make the ride more meaningful, the group paused at three stops, each focused on practical skills, storytelling, and reflection:

First Stop – Temple Storytelling

Our senior guides demonstrated how to lead guests through Cambodia’s heritage sites. They shared techniques for explaining religion, architecture, and the stories carved into temple walls, as well as how to highlight different stone types and their historical significance. The session also included tips for guiding from both the front and back gates of Angkor Wat and best practices for managing group tours, including clear instructions, restroom directions, and handling any conflicts among travellers.

Second Stop – Bicycle & Safety Skills

At the second stop, the focus shifted to practical cycling guidance. The team discussed guide responsibilities, how to lead a group on the bike, and what to do in various situations—handling family groups, bike accidents, first aid, and off-road cycling tips. Guides demonstrated basic bike repairs, shared problem-solving strategies, and emphasised the importance of keeping guests safe while maintaining an enjoyable experience.

Third Stop – Reflections on Siem Reaper

The final stop was a time to reflect on the company’s heart and mission. Everyone shared what they love about Siem Reaper and explored its purpose, mission, and values. This moment reminded everyone why they are part of the team and how each person contributes to creating meaningful experiences for travellers and the local community.

Building People, Not Just Guides

One of the most inspiring parts of the day was hearing how staff and tour guides joined the Siem Reaper. Many came without prior experience or guiding licences, yet through training, mentorship, and dedication, they grew into confident professional guides. This reflects the company’s belief that passion and commitment matter more than credentials at the start.

Why Siem Reaper Matters

When asked what makes Siem Reaper unique, the answers were clear:

Opportunities for staff and young guides: Experience is not a barrier here. With support and training, anyone can grow into a confident professional.

Community-driven: Siem Reaper is built by locals, for locals. Guests who choose to travel with us not only explore Cambodia’s beauty but also empower young Cambodians.

Inclusive spirit: Whether staff or guides, everyone is welcomed equally. What matters most are intention, passion, and commitment.

Giving Back to the Community

Beyond guiding tours, Siem Reaper also participates in environmental and social initiatives. From helping clean up local areas to supporting schools in Kampong Phluk, our team believes in giving back. These activities raise awareness among young guides and inspire them to see their work as part of something bigger.

A Day to Remember

The cycling gathering was more than just a ride—it was a celebration of unity, learning, and inspiration. Everyone left not only with tired legs but also with renewed passion for guiding, storytelling, and making a difference in the lives of both travellers and the local community.
